Dee was the daughter of a small town grocer. She was born in 1925 and was raised in Cambridge, Ohio. Named Dora Lois Beal at birth she was always known as "Dee". As the youngest of 6 children she was surrounded by a loving family her entire life. During her youth Dee was her high school's drum majorette and was a classmate of astronaut John Glenn. Her mother passed away when Dee was 13 years old and her siblings became even more important in shaping her life.
Dee met the love of her life, Navy Quartermaster Jim Russell, at Ohio State University as WWII ended. After marrying Jim and becoming Dee Russell they were inseperable. Jim ran manufacturing plants while Dee raised their three children. She worked as an EKG technician, taught Spanish and Gym, was a Realtor and in her 60's provided services to the elderly. She provided more love than a family has ever known. Jim and Dee lived across the United States including Ohio, Texas, Illinois, Florida and Puerto Rico.
Her beloved husband Jim is currently in Morton Plant Hospital/Rehab recovering from two heart attacks which occured during Dee's final illness, which literally broke his heart.
Dees father (George) and siblings (George, Lee, Don, Velma and Mary Ellen) whom she dearly loved preceeded her to heaven and she yearned for them constantly in her final years.
