Frank Fontanetta Obituary

Frank Fontanetta, 91, of Dunedin, Florida, passed away, Tuesday, September 28, 2015, surrounded by his family at the Suncoast Hospice Care Center. 

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, October 3, 11:00 am - 12:00 pm, at Rhodes Funeral Home, 800 Druid Rd. E., Clearwater, FL.  The Reverend Rebecca Baker, will be officiating.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Suncoast Hospice, Clearwater in his name.

Frank was born July 28, 1924 in Chicago, Illinois to Vita (Fasolo) and Joseph Fontanetta.  As part of The Greatest Generation, he served during WWII and in 1946, after his discharge from the US Navy; he married the former Josephine J. Spinelli.

An engineer specializing in transformer design and fabrication Frank enjoyed a long and successful career working for some of the top component manufacturers, in our country.  Some of his designs were incorporated into NASA equipment.

Frank is survived by his two daughters and one son, Regina and her husband Joseph Platano of Sarasota, FL, Paula and her husband, Shane Edgar of Tampa, FL and Frank J. Fontanetta and his wife Ann of Sarasota: six grandchildren, Paula Elfont, Chad and Joseph Holloway, Christina Smith and Joseph and Kaleigh Fontanetta and five great-grandchildren, Hunter Holloway, Russell Elfont, Shelby Holloway and Joseph (Jack) Fontanetta.  He is also survived by two sisters, Virginia Bane and Jacqueline Krukowski of Chicago and one brother Leo Fontanetta of Arizona and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Vita and his wife Josephine Fontanetta (Spinelli) in 2000.
