Grover Curtis Rodes, OD, 86, passed away on Friday, December 11, 2020. He’s survived by his wife of 58 yrs., Ruby Nell, his daughter Diane Garland (Kim), son Charlie Rodes (Dee), grandchildren, Kara and Andrew Garland, Carley and Connor Rodes, and a sister, Betty Cary. Curtis was a native of St. Petersburg, FL; graduated from St. Pete High, SPC and the Illinois College of Optometry. He served 24 yrs. in the Air Force earning several commendations. He traveled and lived all over the world and retired with the rank of Major. He loved his family and spending time with his kids and grandkids. Curtis liked to putter in his garage and was always building or fixing something. He loved football and cheered on the Bucs, Gators and Seminoles.
Curtis will be laid to rest at Sarasota National Cemetery with military honors on Friday, December 18, 2020. Donations can be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation and Suncoast Hospice.
