Ruth Evangeline Bittinger
September 14, 1917 – November 3, 2009
Ruth Bittinger, a resident of Pinecrest Place in Largo, Florida, passed away November 3, 2009. She was born in Hazelton, Pennsylvania, the daughter of David and Lena Fullmer. Ruth was commissioned as a Salvation Army officer (minister) in 1940. She married Captain Lambert Bittinger on November 14, 1942, and they served as Salvation Army ministers in appointments throughout the northeastern United States and more than four years as missionaries in Jamaica. They retired to Florida in 1981. Ruth’s husband of 64 years predeceased her in June of 2007.
She is survived by sisters, Hannah Strehle of Clearwater, Marjorie McClements of Largo, son, Lambert, Jr. of La Crescenta, CA, daughter Lee Taylor of Redondo Beach, CA, four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at The Salvation Army corps located at 1625 N Belcher Rd. in Clearwater, 33765, on Monday November 9th. Viewing at 9:00am and service at 10:00am. Interment immediately following the service at Memorial Park, in St. Petersburg.
